SPE Squirrels are on the Move!

Sand Point Elementary’s 5th Annual Move-A- Thon is coming up on Friday, November 4, 2016.

The fundraising goal this year is to raise $17,000 to support the PTA (including a recess monitor, student led projects identified by the SPE student council, classroom grants, and more). This healthy, fun, school-wide, community-building event is one of the highlights of the school year. Students will be able to see how their own actions through fundraising and participating in the Move-A-Thon directly contribute to improvements at their school.

The process is simple. Students will ask people for pledges. A pledge is a single donation and not based on laps or minutes walked. Pledges are from folks who agree to donate money for your participation in the Move-A-Thon. They may be friends, family, neighbors, and parents’ co-workers or business associates.  Cash or checks made out to “Sand Point Elementary PTA,” can be collected.  Please have each sponsor sign up and collect the donation immediately! 100% of the donations will benefit Sand Point Elementary students and donations are tax deductible!  Students turn in their sponsor sheet and money on the morning of the event, FRIDAY, November 4 by bringing both to school and GIVING THEM TO THEIR CLASSROOM TEACHER.

The Move-A-Thon will be held at school during the afternoon of Friday, November 4. The Move-a-thon will be held OUTSIDE the building on the playground. The students will be grouped by grade level (K-1 and 2-5) and will get 20 minutes to walk as many laps as they can.  Students will gather in the gym at their assigned time and will be given instructions on where to do and how their laps will be tallied (for prizes). More information about the logistics of the day will be given the week of the move-a-thon.

  • A trophy will be awarded to the class in each grade group (K-1, 2-5) who completes the most laps!
  • A prize will be awarded to the class in each group (K-1, 2-5) with the greatest percentage of students who gathered pledges!
  • A gift card for the student in each grade level (K,1,2,3,4,5) who completes the most laps!
