How Are Your Paper Folding Skills?

Here is a fun little job that would really help our Squirrels out and save our School Nurse and Office Staff lots of time! We need a volunteer to make ice packs for the health room. The ice packs are made by placing folded, wet paper towels into baggies. They are then placed into the school freezer and ready for the next “ouch” that comes along. School Nurse Melissa provides the paper towels and the baggies. The supplies are located on her desk at SPE and ready for a volunteer this week. Don’t forget to sign in and count your time toward earning your cool Squirrel Squad gear!

SEL Curriculum Advisory Videos

Here at Sand Point, we use social learning theory as the framework for implementation throughout each month. Advisory meetings for Sand Point’s SEL curriculum are held on the first Monday of each month and the SEL theme for the month is presented. At the end of the month, the work is presented by Student Council at the morning all-school assembly. Families are welcome to attend.

Watch the videos with your Squirrels to share and learn together.

November: Reflection
December: Identity

Squirrel House Rock Sponsorship Opportunities

The Sand Point Elementary PTA Squirrel House Rock: Save Our Squirrels benefit concert committee appreciates your consideration of our sponsorship opportunities. We are excited to be holding our bi-annual spring fundraiser on March 23, 2019 at the Georgetown Ballroom.

Sand Point Elementary School is a Seattle Public School which re-opened in 2010. We are very unique to NE Seattle in that we have an incredibly diverse student body of 170 students in classes Kindergarten – Fifth Grade. Sand Point Elementary is a Title 1 School (meaning over 43% of our students qualify for free-and-reduced lunch) and 23% of the school are English language learners. We have a diverse student body – 36% White, 14% Asian, 15% African American, 23% multiracial, and 12% Hispanic– with 18 different home languages. With limited funding from the school district, we are a school in need.

The dollars raised from this event will go to the PTA Fund to pay for activities such as music, science, art, field trips, school supplies, classroom grants, and more. We hope you will partner with us by sponsoring our event. With the generous support of you and others, we hope to reach our goal of raising $100,000, which will benefit each and every child at Sand Point Elementary School.

Learn more about sponsorship levels or fill out the sponsorship form here.
