Ongoing Oppportunities

Sand Point Elementary and the PTA have a lot of ongoing projects and committees that can always use extra hands.  Below are some ongoing needs.  If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please visit our main Volunteer page for information on how to become a volunteer. Contact with any questions.

  • Classroom Support:  Teachers can always use extra help, from organizing homework folders, to planning classroom celebrations or reading with students.  Contact your teacher to find out what his/her needs are
  • Safety Patrol: Volunteer for 45 minutes once a week to supervise Safety Patrol students and ensure students get to school safely. Training provided.
  • Safety Patrol Assistant Coordinator: Learn the ropes on the Squirrel Safety Patrol (new last year) by working with the existing Coordinator.  Help with program basics: recruiting parent and community adult volunteers, training student volunteers, and ensuring communication with participants. Training provided.
  • Library Support: Help our school librarian check in books, sort them for shelving, or help students find books that interest them.
  • School Garden:  Help maintain the garden and volunteer for gardening events.
    • “DROP IN” GARDEN STEWARDSHIP! These twice-a-month, one-hour events will enable anyone to make a big difference in keeping the gardening growing well. No prior gardening experience necessary!
  • Potlucks:  Help in set up and clean up of our school’s occasional potluck suppers.
  • Fundraising:  Assist in various fundraising projects, whether ongoing or a one-time event.
  • Playground Support:  Oversee playground activities and help transition students to/from recess.
  • Lunchroom Support:  Help lunch time run smoothly and provide assistance to younger students.
  • PTA Communications:  Assist in production of the newsletter, bulletin boards, promotional materials, website, and more.
