Happy start to the school year, Squirrels! ✏️+📚+🐿️ = 🎉 Great to see so many smiling faces at our annual Ice Cream Social on Monday! Much thanks again to Sweet Alchemy Ice Creamery for all the delicious flavors, and for all the teachers, families, and community members that came out and celebrated together.
Upcoming Calendar • 9/23 Fri - Enrichment Class Signups Due - Deadline for priority in signing up your child for after-school enrichment classes this fall. Classes can fill quickly so please return your take-home signup sheet as soon as possible. You can also sign up online! More info below.
• 9/23 Fri - Squirrel Gear Orders Due - If you're interested in buying new Squirrel Gear this fall, please return your take-home flyer by Friday, so we can get our order in on time. Download the order form. • 9/30 Fri - Welcome Back Potluck for Teachers - Join with fellow families and drop off a dish or treat for a fun Welcome Back Our Teachers potluck lunch. • 10/3 Mon - Picture Day! (Individual) - Make sure your squirrel is looking their best this Monday as Yuen Lui returns to take student portraits for keepsakes and yearbooks. More info below. Squirrel Chess Club (Grades K-5) - Tuesdays, 2:25-4:00pm
Every Tuesday after school, 10 week session
Your Sand Point Elementary PTA is very excited to welcome National Chess coach level IV Charles A. Smith to be the lead instructor for our new Squirrel Chess Club on Tuesday afternoons this fall. Cost: $200 per student, scholarships available
Intro to Mode Music / Sing Along (Grades K-2) - Wednesdays, 1:10-2:40pm
Every Wednesday after school, 10 week session
Using the songs of kid-friendly artists like Caspar Babypants, popular songs of yesterday and today, and campfire sing-alongs, we will discover the foundations of rhythm, song structure, lyrics and melody. Cost: $250 per student, scholarships available
Story Drama (Grades K-2) - Wednesdays, 2:45-4:15pm
Every Wednesday after school, 10 week session
In the Story Drama series, students will use works by popular children’s authors like Dr. Seuss and Eric Carle to explore the fundamentals of story-telling and work together to bring those stories to life. Cost: $250 per student, scholarships available
Harry Potter Scene Study (Grades 3-5) - Wednesdays, 1:10-2:40pm
Every Wednesday after school, 10 week session
This class is a hit with avid Harry Potter fans and muggles alike! We will dive into the world of witchcraft and wizardry, studying scenes from the movies and books as well as working together to create an original play set in the Harry Potter universe. Cost: $250 per student, scholarships available
Rock Band (Grades 3-5) - Wednesdays, 2:45-4:15pm
Every Wednesday after school, 10 week session
Students will come together using their voices and various instruments to form their very own rock band in this hands-on, collaborative music experience. Together, we will learn the fundamentals of music theory and use those tools to rehearse cover songs and begin writing songs of our own! Cost: $250 per student, scholarships available
Spanish Through Music (Grades k-5) - Thursdays, 2:25-4:00pm
Every Thursday after school, 10 week session
Children will be introduced to the rich Spanish language and a music culture based on community values, festive spirit, curiosity, respect and creativity. Children will learn songs from the Disney repertoire in Spanish (including Encanto and Coco) while playing games and enjoying musical activities. Cost: $200 per student, scholarships available
Squirrel Garden Club (Grades 2-5) - Thursdays, 2:25-4:00pm
Join us this Fall in the beautiful Sand Point Garden for a fun, enriching gardening program! We will be learning about how to grow and prepare our own food as well as the importance of compost, seeds, and more through games, art, cooking, and science projects! Cost: $20 per drop-in class, scholarships available

Welcome Back Our Teachers Potluck Lunch - Friday, September 30th
Join with fellow families and drop off a dish or treat for our teachers in the teachers' lounge to spoil them with a yummy last day-of-the-month lunch. Let's make it an impressive spread like usual! Remember it's always great to get a few vegan and gluten free options too!
~ Pls drop off before 10:30am.
Picture Day! (Individual) - Monday, October 3rd Make sure your squirrel is looking their best this Monday as Yuen Lui Studio returns to take student portraits for keepsakes and yearbooks. Save the Date: Next SPE PTA General Membership Meeting
Tuesday, November 1st, 6:00-7:00pm
Join us for our first General Membership Meeting of the 2022-2023 school year. Learn about volunteering opportunities, including our upcoming Move-a-thon Fundraiser, share your ideas and concerns with the Board, vote on initiatives, grab free Squirrel Gear swag, and review our operating budget. Your participation makes a difference!
